On Wednesday, August 7, three members of the Audubon Chapter of Minneapolis’ Advocacy Committee testified before the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board regarding plans under consideration for the development of the area above the St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis. Around 25 members of the Dayton Mobile Community engaged with board member Wilmer Fernandez and Keith Olstad in conversations -both in Spanish, English, and sometimes Spanglish – regarding the importance of open green spaces, spending time in the outdoors, the impact and importance of birds to our environment. We followed that with a short birding walk around the Lake Katrina trail system with participants of all ages.
